Be honest about aid research

Funding mainly benefits UK universities and should not count towards development budget, says Balázs Szent-Iványi

Foreign secretary Dominic Raab announced last week that the overseas aid budget of the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial strategy will be cut by 30 per cent in 2021-22.

The news, which comes after the government abandoned its target to spend 0.7 per cent of national income on official development assistance (ODA), is likely to entail funding cuts for aid research.
