Anne Marie Graham wants the decision to ban international students’ dependants reversed

After weeks of media speculation, the UK government has confirmed that from January 2024, international students enrolling on postgraduate taught courses will no longer be able to bring their dependants. Many will accept this as a concession in the face of continuing cost of living and accommodation pressures, but the announcement comes at a time when the UK is a leading global study destination and contrasts with a range of progressive and welcoming policies for international students and their dependants in our competitor markets.

To make matters more complicated, the details of the policy are not yet clear, leaving students and those who advise them still looking for answers.
