The numbers of minority doctorate recipients and minority faculty members in science, engineering, and health (SEH) in US institutions remains low, especially at the leading research institutions, according to National Science Foundation (NSF) data.
Blacks, Hispanics, and American Indians/Alaska Natives, as a group, earned about 3,300 SEH doctorates from US universities in 2008, or 9 per cent of all SEH doctorates, NSF concluded in analysis released on 11 October.
