Senate proposes NSF budget cut

The National Science Foundation could suffer a 2.4 per cent budget cut that would reduce its total budget to $6.7 billion (€5bn) in fiscal year 2012 under a Bill approved by the Senate Appropriations Committee on 15 September.

Nearly $121m of the $162 million reduction would come from the agency’s Research and Related Activities account, which funds research grants.
