Restricted death record access said to be hampering research

The Social Security Administration’s move to limit access to its death records is hindering research in a range of areas, The New York Times has reported.

For example, the paper notes that a research group responsible for producing reports on organ transplant survival rates is facing delays because of the extra work now required to determine whether patients are still alive.
