Gingrich attacks embryonic stem cell research

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich came out strongly opposed to embryonic stem cell research in an attempt to win over evangelical Christian voters in advance of the Florida Republican presidential primary on 31 January.

“I would eliminate all funding for any stem cell research which came from the killing of life,” Gingrich stated outside a Baptist Church in Florida on 28 January. The former House Speaker received a standing ovation after questioning the motives of human embryonic stem cell research advocates.
