A national public opinion poll commissioned by Research!America finds that more than half of likely voters doubt that the US will be the world leader in science, technology and health care by 2020.
The findings, released on 14 March, show that only 23 per cent of those polled consider the US first in medical and health research today, but more than 90 per cent indicate that it is important for the nation to maintain its world leadership role, as other nations such as China and India increase their investment.
