Public doubts future of US scientific leadership
An opinion poll commissioned by lobby group Research!America found that more than half of likely voters doubt that the US will be the world leader in science, technology and health care by 2020. The findings, released on 14 March, show that 90 per cent of those polled think it is important that the US maintains a world leadership role, as nations such as China and India increase research spending.
