Federal scientists join financial disclosure rule lawsuit

Around 60 federally employed researchers from National Institutes of Health (NIH) and NASA have joined a lawsuit against a recent law that says high-level government employees must publicly disclose details of their financial assets and non-federal incomes, report Science Insider and the Scientist.

The Stop Trading on Congressional Knowledge (STOCK) Act, enacted in April, aims to deter insider trading among the government’s top ranks. But the researchers cite concerns about privacy and say it could drive talented researchers to leave.
