Halt on some H5N1 research should continue, researchers told

A voluntary moratorium on potentially dangerous experiments aimed at understanding highly virulent strains of the H5N1 influenza virus should continue for the time being, a meeting of influenza researchers scientists has been told.

Nature and Science magazines report comments by Anthony Fauci, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Disease (NIAID), at the annual meeting of the Centres of Excellence for Influenza Research and Surveillance in New York on 31 July.
