Ryan’s record on science and government scrutinised

Examination continues of the record on science of Paul Ryan, the Republican Party’s presumptive nominee for the national vice presidency in the 2012 election.

On 17 August the ScienceInsider published a review of Ryan’s 14-year career in Congress. It says while he holds some strong views on the role of the federal government in funding and regulating research and innovation—expressing strong support for government funding of basic science—critics are worried his 10-year budget roadmap will “substantially slow future spending” in the area.
