There’s a new buzzword on the lips of DC’s research policy people: quantum computing

Could most people on the Hill actually explain what it is? Probably not in great detail.

But if the hype is to be believed, ‘quantum information science’ will save the US from terrorism, protect democracy and ultimately change life as we know it. This is because it will enable a new kind of computer that can analyse information exponentially faster than the technology of today.
