Health and Human Services inspector-general says more money is needed to tackle fraud and waste

In research, as in many areas of life, a lot of things ultimately boil down to money.

Playbook recently reported in depth on how US federal agencies supporting research and innovation are alarmed over lawmakers’ proposals to slash their 2024 fiscal year budget appropriations to 2022 levels. They have warned of negative effects including thousands of grants being cancelled or paused and widespread job losses.
