Three bills passed despite scientists’ warnings

The House of Representatives has passed three bills that were opposed by the Union of Concerned Scientists (UCS) because of concerns that the legislation could threaten the ability of federal agencies such as the Environmental Protection Agency to regulate based on the best available science.

In a 30 November letter, UCS urged members of the House of Representatives to oppose the Regulatory Flexibility Improvement Act, and the Regulatory Accountability Act, and the Regulations from the Executive In Need of Scrutiny (REINS) Act, which were due to come to the House for a floor vote.
