Republicans chastise ‘sluggish’ NASA

NASA has been slow to advance plans to develop a Space Launch System, a senior member of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee, Kay Bailey Hutchinson (R-TX), has said.

In a statement published on 19 August, Hutchinson said NASA had missed an opportunity to employ some of the 5,500 of members of staff who had lost their jobs since the ending of the agency’s Constellation programme to take astronauts to the moon.
