‘Deep concern’ over House plan to flat fund NIH

The Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology is worried that the National Institutes of Health’s (NIH) budget would be frozen in fiscal year (FY) 2013 under legislation approved on 18 July by a House of Representatives appropriations subcommittee.

FASEB, which is composed of 26 scientific societies and is the largest coalition of biomedical research associations in the US, said the subcommittee proposal falls short of the needed investment in biomedical research at NIH.
