Representatives back fusion program

A group of 50 congressional representatives have written to the House Energy and Water Development Appropriations Subcommittee to express their support for federal fusion energy research programs.

In the letter, the representatives ask that the subcommittee “protect U.S. capabilities in this area by including adequate funding for both the domestic fusion program and the international ITER fusion project in FY 2014”.

The letter is referring to programs run by the Department of Energy’s Office of Fusion Energy Sciences and the international ITER fusion project, based in France.
