Bipartisan bill backs innovation hubs to boost US regions

      

Legislation would encourage local governments, universities and businesses to team up

Universities and businesses in small cities and rural areas in the United States will get federal grants and awards to work together in innovation consortia if a draft bipartisan law wins wider support.

The hope is that by aiming federal innovation funding at “underserved” areas of the country, the government can help both regional and national economies.
