Spending bills set out budget increases for US science agencies

   

House backs 2022 boosts for education, energy and the National Institute of Standards and Technology

The House of Representatives has set out how it wants federal spending to be shared among research funding departments and agencies for fiscal year 2022, with some potentially set for increases of over a third compared with 2021.

The House Committee on Appropriations, which is responsible for allocating federal funding to departments and agencies through annual funding bills, announced its proposals on 11 July for the fiscal year running from 1 October 2021 to 30 September 2022.
