‘Deep concerns’ about US access to primates for research

     

Senator blames “critical shortage” of non-human primates on agencies including US Fish and Wildlife Service

A US lawmaker has expressed concern about the country’s limited access to non-human primates for use in scientific research, saying it poses a variety of threats.

“I am deeply concerned about the critical shortage of non-human primates used for biomedical research, and the negative implications this shortage will have for patients and on our reliance on China,” senator Bill Cassidy said in a letter to US president Joe Biden published on 19 July.
