Emergency rescue needed from South Pole research station

Another technical expert must be rescued from the National Science Foundation’s (NSF) South Pole research facility because of a health emergency.

NSF expects that Renee-Nicole Douceur, an engineer and site manager, will be flown out for treatment imminently after suffering an apparent stroke in August. The agency has emphasized that the rescue mission is complex and cannot be rushed.
