NASA takes Virgin flights into space

The British-based space tourism company Virgin Galactic will provide NASA with up to three charter flights on its privately-built SpaceShipTwo spacecraft to enable engineers, technologists and researchers to conduct experiments in suborbital space, under a contract worth up to $4.5 million.

“This arrangement dramatically increases the access researchers currently have to space,” Virgin Galactic said in a 13 October statement.
