Budget woes lead USDA to axe research reports

A US Department of Agriculture (USDA) announcement that it is eliminating or greatly reducing many of its research reports because of budgetary pressures has caused some concern within the research community.

In its October announcement, USDA’s National Agricultural Statistics Service (NASS) explained that funding reductions in fiscal year (FY) 2011 and the likelihood of additional reductions in FY2012 had led NASS to cut a wide range of agricultural survey programmes.
