The Department of Energy’s (DOE) undersecretary for science, Steven Koonin, will leave his position on 18 November to join the Institute for Defense Analyses’ Science and Technology Policy Institute.
The institute is a federally-funded research and development centre chartered by Congress that provides objective analysis of science and technology policy issues for components of the executive branch, including the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
