GAO examines whether NIH stimulus funds actually created jobs

The congressional Government Accountability Office (GAO) has released a report that highlights the positive employment and other impacts of the economic stimulus package enacted by President Obama in February 2009.

That measure included $8.2 billion in funding for the National Institutes of Health to be used to support additional scientific research—including extramural grants at universities and other research institutions.
