The National Science Foundation plans to create four new Engineering Research Centers to encourage interdisciplinary research and collaboration with industry.
The $74 million award, to be spent over five years, will create a third generation of centres, focusing on solar energy, water infrastructure, neural engineering and energy transmission, said the NSF.
