NIH gets tough on its public access policy

The National Institutes of Health wants to improve compliance with its public access policy. The agency has informed its grantees that it will stop funding non-competing continuation grants if their resulting publications are not in accordance with that rule, as soon as spring 2013.

“The award will not be processed until recipients have demonstrated compliance,” NIH warned in a 16 November notice. Once publications are in compliance, the awards will go forward.
