NIH touts its A2 re-submission policy as a success

The National Institutes of Health has officially deemed its policy to sunset the second re-submission of research grant proposals, known as “A2” applications, a success.

“More time has elapsed since the policy was implemented [in January 2009] and this has allowed us to gather a substantial amount of data and conduct more in-depth analyses of the effects of allowing only one resubmission for each application,” explained Sally Rockey, who directs NIH’s Office of Extramural Research, in a 28 November blog post.
