ORI finds research misconduct at University of Kentucky

The federal Office of Research Integrity (ORI) has concluded that Eric Smart, a former paediatrics and physiology professor at the University of Kentucky (UK), engaged in research misconduct involving studies supported by the National Institutes of Health.

Smart falsified and/or fabricated data in ten published papers, one submitted manuscript, seven grant applications, and three progress reports over a period of 10 years, ORI said on 14 December.
