Biosecurity Board to scrutinise bird flu research

The National Institutes of Health (NIH) will reconvene the National Science Advisory Board for Biosecurity (NSABB) to examine two controversial manuscripts on the lethal H5N1 bird flu virus.

The move was announced by the director of NIH’s National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Anthony Fauci, at an American Society for Microbiology research meeting in Washington, DC on 29 February.
