DHS re-states support for nuclear forensics

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has said it “remains committed” to strengthening US expertise in nuclear forensics.

In a statement on 28 August it said that its applied research programme to prevent nuclear terrorism, the Academic Research Initiative (ARI), had awarded 57 grants worth over $65 million since its establishment in 2008. The programme is run by the Department of Homeland Security’s Domestic Nuclear Detection Office (DNDO) and the National Science Foundation
