NASA’s research commissioning gets thumbs up

The process NASA uses to assesses the scientific merit of the directed research it commissions as part of its Human Research Program is “scientifically rigorous” and similar to that used by many other federal agencies and organisations, a review has found.

But the report, undertaken by the Institute of Medicine at NASA’s request and published on 26 July, also makes recommendations on ways NASA can improve its processes.
