State department looks to mix science and diplomacy

Two new programmes to promote science abroad have been announced by the Department of State. The programmes were announced in conjunction with the Global Diaspora Forum on 25 and 26 July in Washington, DC.

Networks of Diasporas in Engineering and Science aims to help diaspora groups with skills in science and engineering who have immigrated to the US to connect their talents with needs in their countries of origin and help shape policies there. It is a joint effort with the National Academy of Sciences (NAS) and the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).
