FDA releases food safety rules reportedly delayed by White House

The US Food and Drug Administration proposed two food safety rules aimed at preventing food-borne illness on 4 January, but a science advocacy group complained that they had been held up by the White House Office of Management and Budget.

In its same-day statement, the Union of Concerned Scientists said OMB has “long been a source of delay and interference in science-based federal policymaking under multiple administrations”.
