The US Senate has confirmed Willie May as director of the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
May, whose appointment was confirmed on 4 May, has been NIST’s acting director since June 2014. He previously served as deputy to former director Patrick Gallagher and led the agency’s laboratory programs.
“I am fully committed to maintaining NIST as a world-leading scientific research institution providing measurements, standards and technology solutions to our stakeholders,” he said.
