Agencies warn researchers not to stray far from home

The United States’ National Science Foundation and National Institutes of Health have written to researchers to remind them to disclose any foreign support they have received and avoid foreign recruitment programmes.

In a letter to grantees published on 11 July, NSF director France Córdova said she was writing to them about “a sensitive and important challenge that affects our entire science and engineering community”.

This is “when another government endeavours to benefit from the global research ecosystem without upholding the values of openness, transparency, and reciprocal collaboration”.
