US agencies to build joint data-sharing and AI network

Project backed with $20 million will be led by the National Science Foundation

A joint initiative to build a network of open data repositories has been launched by the National Science Foundation and five other US government agencies.

The Prototype Open Knowledge Network, or Proto-OKN, is backed by $20 million in public funding and will support projects to build scalable, cloud-based infrastructures as prototypes for future data sharing, the NSF announced on 24 March.
