Bill seeks to establish Noaa as independent US agency

  

National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has until now operated under presidential order

A bill has been lodged to establish the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration as a standalone agency, and promises to promote a culture of scientific integrity within it.

Frank Lucas, the Republican chair of the House Science, Space and Technology Committee, introduced the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Act of 2023 on 9 June.
