US to spend $5bn on developing new coronavirus vaccines

   

Project NextGen will cover all phases of development, from laboratory research to clinical trials

The Joe Biden administration will spend more than $5 billion to accelerate the production of new vaccines and treatments for viruses like the one that causes Covid-19, according to reports.

Billed as Project NextGen, the money is intended to provide better protection from coronaviruses and was announced in an interview with the Washington Post, news agency Reuters reported.
