The White House has promised to enhance scientific cooperation with Japan during American president Donald Trump’s state visit to the Asian country.
Trump toured Japan from 25 to 28 May. The visit followed the coronation of a new Japanese emperor and a high-level meeting on science and technology cooperation between the two countries earlier in the month.
Japan is the third largest source of foreign investment into the United States and the third largest contributor to R&D there. A trio of Japanese companies recently made a $1-billion investment to help US company Uber develop self-driving car technology, for example.
