Analysis finds shortfall in US science allocations for 2024

    

National Science Foundation among trio of agencies set to receive less funding than was authorised

Federal funding provisionally allocated to US research agencies for the 2024 financial year falls about $7.5 billion below the level authorised by the Chips and Science Act, according to an analysis by the Federation of American Scientists.

This follows a shortfall of nearly $3bn below authorised levels for research agencies this year, noted Matt Hourihan, the associate director of R&D and advanced industry at the FAS, a not-for-profit think tank.
