A five-year effort to improve undergraduate education in science, technology, engineering and maths (STEM), launched by the Association of American Universities on 14 September, has been commended by the White House.
“The STEM fields are critical to generating the new ideas, companies, and industries that drive our nation’s competitiveness, and will become even more important in the future,” AAU said in announcing the new programme. “Improving undergraduate STEM education is both a national need and a long-term challenge.”
