Court rejects subpoenas of climate scientists’ emails

Virginia’s Supreme Court has rejected controversial subpoenas, or “Civil Investigative Demands” (CIDs), issued by the state’s Attorney General Kenneth Cuccinelli to the University of Virginia, which sought information relating to the research of climate scientist Michael Mann.

Had Cuccinelli’s request been upheld by the court on 2 March, the university would have been forced to turn over emails and other private correspondence between Mann, who taught at UVA from 1999 to 2005, and dozens of his colleagues.
