California and Israel agree to cooperate on research

The governor of California and Israel’s prime minister have signed an agreement to strengthen research ties by encouraging collaboration between Californian and Israeli universities and public and private research institutions.

“Through this agreement, California and Israel will build on their respective strengths in research and technology to confront critical problems we both face, such as water scarcity, cybersecurity, and climate change, said California Governor Jerry Brown in a press release on 5 March.

California says that that the agreement is expected to boost economic, cultural and academic cooperation between California and Israel, with an emphasis on water conservation, alternative energy, cybersecurity, health and biotechnology, education and agricultural technology.
