Dozens of institutions have offered to take in a Louisiana museum’s collections after reports suggested that they might be destroyed.
Research Professional and others reported on a 28 March announcement from the natural history museum at the University of Louisiana in Monroe that campus renovations were forcing it to seek a new home for plant and fish specimens.
The university gave the museum 48 hours to find space on campus for the collections, and said the 500,000 plant specimens and up to six million fish specimens would otherwise have to be destroyed.
