Duke sued over ‘fraudulent’ clinical trial

A lawsuit has been filed against Duke University, Duke University Heath System (DUHS), and several researchers, including Anil Potti—a former researcher there who ran into trouble last summer following revelations that his credentials were bogus and the prediction models upon which three ongoing clinical trials were based were questionable.

The suit, filed on 7 September, alleges that the defendants participated in a “fraudulent clinical trial” where they exposed patients to improper and unnecessary chemotherapy, and based their treatment on falsified medical research.
