Applications to US grad schools from abroad up 9%

The number of prospective international students applying to US graduate schools increased 9 per cent for the 2012 academic year, according to the Council of Graduate Schools (CGS). The figure represents the seventh consecutive annual rise.

Data released by CGS on 3 April show a seventh successive year of double-digit growth in applications from China, up 18 per cent after a 21 per cent increase in 2011. Applications from India increased 2 per cent, following an 8 per cent increase in 2011.
