Affirmative action policy goes to Supreme Court

Many scientific societies have joined higher education associations in urging the US Supreme Court to support admission policies which take race into account in a case before it involving the University of Texas at Austin.

The American Educational Research Association (AERA) submitted a “friend of the court” brief on 13 August—signed by seven other scientific societies—summarising peer-reviewed scientific evidence relevant to the case of Fisher v. University of Texas at Austin.
