Harvard retains top spot in Shanghai rankings

Harvard University has again taken first place in the 2012 Academic Ranking of World Universities, a list of the world's best 500 research universities compiled by Jia Tong University in Shanghai.

The 10th edition of the rankings, one of the most closely observed international university rankings, was published on the 15 August. It showed that US universities continued to dominate the top 10, with the universities of Cambridge and Oxford in the UK also included. Harvard University keeps its top spot for the 10th year running.
