Jason committee says foreign conflicts of interest are integrity issue for National Science Foundation
Researchers in the United States who fail to report foreign conflicts of interest should be treated as having violated research integrity, and should face consequences similar to those for research misconduct, a committee of senior academics has said.
The recommendation was made in a report by the federal science advisory group Jason, which specialises in national security. Jason was commissioned by the National Science Foundation to evaluate the risks foreign interference poses to basic research in the US.
